Session 3: Conscious Neutrality & Self-Regulation

Living Above the Line — Not as a Concept, But as a Practice

Facilitated by Rev. Bryan Sawchuk · June 2026

Opening Centering — A breath, feet on the floor, arriving. Not to fix anything or perform being spiritual — just to notice, be present, willing, and open.

Today's Teaching — Two Practices

Conscious Neutrality — Not detachment or performance, but a chosen interior state: stable, present, unattached to outcome, able to respond from the higher self rather than react from the small self. "You can be moved without being swept away."

Self-Regulation — Not suppression or control, but the capacity to notice a reaction arising and, in the gap between noticing and engaging, make a conscious choice. The practice: Notice → Pause → Breathe → Choose.

Above & Below the Line — Not a permanent address, but a practiced direction. Above the line (4th dimension): responsive, curious, trusting, able to be moved without being swept away. Below the line (3rd dimension): reactive, defensive, blaming, drama as default defense. The line is crossed many times a day — the practice is noticing and returning.

The Observer & The Field — Everything is energy; your inner state broadcasts outward. A scattered field (reactive, below the line) broadcasts confusion and contraction. A coherent field (aligned, above the line) broadcasts clarity and matches the frequency of love and peace. Illustrated through money, coworker conflict, and relationship examples — same situation, different energetic broadcast, different reality created.

The Biology of the Practice — The amygdala hijack fires in milliseconds, flooding the body with cortisol and adrenaline before thought arrives — this is hardwired, not a flaw. The refractory period shortens with practice (from 10–30 minutes down to seconds). Each conscious gap creates new neural pathways — this is neuroplasticity in spiritual practice. "You are not broken. You are biological."

Lived Practice Examples — Public criticism, a stuck relationship, and life not going as planned — each shown as below-the-line reaction vs. above-the-line response, same circumstances, different dimension.

Pause & Reflect — Where have you been reacting on autopilot and mistaking it for reality? What would it look like to be moved by something without being run by it?

Your Practice This Month

Keep your ONE mirror from last month

Notice: "Am I above or below the line right now?"

Use the full practice — Notice → Pause → Breathe → Choose

Find conscious neutrality — even 5 seconds counts

Closes with: "You are not your reaction. You are the one who can notice it."
